Hi,
A Black-chinned Hummingbird is being reported at Maumee Bay SP near the
campground, on the Ohio Rare Bird Alert Facebook Page. Given that
Black-chinned and Ruby-throated are both genus archilochus, they can be
very very difficult to separate without a good view of the gorget. The
photo appears to show this being purple on the bird being reported, which
indicates Black-throated. Vagrant Black-throateds have been found in
Pennsylvania and Ontario Canadia.
Exact coordinates: 41.683318, -83.390311
Paste those into Google Maps and it will show you where.
This is a heads up to anyone interested and in no way is intended to
confirm the identity of this bird. Good luck!
Haans
