Hello All,

Just a note to let everyone know that the Brooks Bird Club of WV will be holding our annual Foray next month:

Headquarters for the 2017 Foray will be the Lost River Retreat Center, located near Lost City, WV. Foray takes place June 9th-17th. Located on 43 acres in the Potomac Highlands of WV, Lost River Retreat Center is within two hours of Washington, D.C., adjoining the beautiful George Washington National Forest. The facilities include two lodges adjoining a large open meadow, an outdoor activities building, a pond, and several outdoor meeting areas. Campers will be housed in dorm rooms, with 3 women or 3 men to a room. There are in-room bathrooms and showers. There is plenty of room for tent camping, if desired.

The program will emphasize birds and you will have opportunities to join in the Breeding Surveys, Bird Population Studies, and early morning bird walks. There will also be field work in flowering plants, mammals, herptiles, insects, and amphibians. A program of lectures and field trips for campers who wish to participate will be part of the daily activities. Foray directors will be Janice Emrick & Ryan Tomazin.

Many of the participants at Foray are experienced field biologists, some professional, others amateurs, but
all specialists in their field of nature. Their informal leadership and enthusiasm to help people should make Foray
both enjoyable and educational.

Meals will be good and furnished by our camp cooks. There will be early morning snacks for the early
birds. There will be all-day excursions for which bag lunches will be supplied.

ALSO: Though costs for Foray are low ($250 for the full 'experience'), scholarships are available, especially to students. There is also a day-to-day pricing schedule, for those who can't come for the whole time.
