Yesterday I was on the Ledges Trail at CVNP testing out a camera but I was pleased to hear at least one singing Winter Wren and a Veery in the mid afternoon.

After that, I spent some time at Horseshoe Pond and saw a Green Heron carrying sticks & it looked like it was taking them to a nest in a pine tree. Do these birds nest later than Great Blues & others?

I had another Green Heron this AM at Wood Hollow Metro Park

Then tonite, I happened to look out my patio doors just in time to see an Osprey carrying off a fish it had just caught in the small pond at the apt complex. Wonder if it's the same bird I saw fishing a few weeks ago? Maybe a nest is somewhere near Rt 8/Hudson?

I think Spotted SPs must have nested at the pond--I see one or two most days.
