I visited several areas around the north end of AlumCreek Lake (Howard Rd, Hunter's Hollow, Hogback Rd) and the southern end of nearby Lake Delaware (Delaware Wildlife Area, River Run Park) this morning, and had mostly expected residents, but a few unusual birds to keep it interesting.  Highlights included:

Sandhill Cranes - a family group of 2 adults and 1 juvenile were foraging in a field along Panhandle Rd in the Delaware Wildlife Area

Ospreys - abundant at Alum Cr Lake, with 3 pairs at Hogback Basin and singles in several other locations

Red-shouldered hawk - an adult was calling along Alum Creek at the Kilbourne bridge

Yellow-billed Cuckoos - calling birds were at several sites at Alum creek lake

Swallows - small flocks of post-nesting Tree Swallows were already forming at Hogback basin and Delaware WA.  Cliff Swallows now have a small colony on the Main St. Bridge (south of Lake Delaware Dam) at River Run park

Prairie Warbler - an adult was singing in the cedars around the boat launch parking area on Howard Rd at Alum Creek Lake

Prothonotary Warblers - singing birds were at Hunter's Hollow, Hogback Basin (2), and Leonardsburg Swamp in the Delaware WA

Hooded Warblers - the only ones were 3 along the bridle trail at Hunters' Hollow at Alum Creek Lake

Yellow-br.Chat - a bird was singing south of the parking area at River Run Park in Delaware

Swamp Sparrows - at least 4 were singing in marshes along the Leonardsburg Rd in the Delaware WA
