I stopped at Pekin Marsh this afternoon to look for the Common Gallinules.
This marsh has had a breeding pair the last couple of years. Saw one Gallinule
earlier this spring, but didn’t find them today. Lots of wood ducks have fledged.
I was particularly interested to find three male ruddy ducks, heads tucked in most
of the time. (I didn’t see a female, but it is worth going back to keep a watch.
A breeding pair would be of note.)
