I visited several areas around both of these Dublin parks this morning, stopping at the dam and nearby Twin Lakes Park, then visiting areas around the north end of the MetroPark. The cloudy, cool weather kept birds active much longer in the morning, letting me find lots of resident birds. The grassland areas in north Glacier Ridge MetroPark seem to be heavily invaded by broadleaf shrubs like Indian Hemp, so the area is not attracting many grassland specialists anymore; the staff should consider a controlled burn here. Highlights for the morning included:

Great Blue Herons - very high water on the river forced 14-15 of them to congregate around the dam spillway
BlackVulture - a single bird was with the 20-odd Turkey Vultures at the roost below the dam
Prothonotary Warbler - 1 was still singing at Twin Lakes Park
Yellow-br.Chat - 1 was singing in the successional field south of the north parking area at Glacier Ridge
Summer Tanager - 1 was singing in the woods along the bikepath northwest of the parking area at Glacier Ridge
Grasshopper Sparrow - just one was singing in the field north of the windmill at Glacier Ridge
Bobolinks - 1 male, 2 females, and 1 juvenile were in the field north of the windmill
E.Meadowlarks - good #s (8-10) in the fields around the north parking area at Glacier Ridge
