I birded at Conneaut harbor today from 7:00 AM to 1:20 PM. Shorebird movement lasted from early morning until 12:46 PM. When I arrived, there was only 1 killdeer. By the time I left, I had recorded 10 species of shorebirds. Best ones were a juv. red knot which was present from 8:30 - 9:30 AM, feeding along the shoreline the entire time until it took off; and a juv. Wilson's phalarope which flew in with 2 lesser yellowlegs at 12:12 PM, landed for only a few moments, and took off with them to the west. Other birds recorded today were: 3 wood ducks, 3 blue-winged teal, 9 common mergansers, 100 double-crested cormorants, 55 turkey vultures, bald eagles, Am. coot, 6 semipalmated plovers, 5 ruddy turnstones, 6 sanderlings (first juvs.), Baird's sandpiper, pectoral sandpiper, 7 semipalmated sandpipers, 3 lesser yellowlegs, 2 Caspian terns, and 2 belted kingfishers.
