This morning shorty after 10, a large-ish flock of barn swallows briefly
visited our horse barn. Earlier this summer the nesters in the same barn
successfully reared a few fledglings, resulting in a family of five, who
lingered for a week or two. This morning's flock was closer to 20 (hard to
count accurately, what with all the swooping about), so I reckon these were
representatives of multiple barns, staging for migration.

It was over in five minutes, spectacular while it lasted, and made me smile
as I paused in the chores at hand to witness the wonder.
