Hello,

A single American White Pelican made a brief 2-3 hour stop in Mentor Marsh
this evening viewed from Mentor Lagoons looking east. It was first found by
David Kriska, and thanks to Dave Chase for getting the word out.
Unfortunately, around 5pm, the bird took flight, circled around the parking
lot and marsh for five minutes, then finally flew out of sight towards the
northeast, as five of had viewed it.
This was Ray’s 199th species for the Mentor area for May 2018, a new record
for number of species in the month of May recorded by him (previous was
198; it didn’t look good for passing that number this year, but with the
pelican, that changed!).
