A few birders were out this morning trying to find the reported Least Bittern from yesterday. Burning Lakes is a brand new metro park or extension of Pickerington Ponds, I’m not sure which, off Gentry Rd. Apparently it just opened a few days ago. Certainly may have some potential for attracting some grassland birds. The ponds are quite small but you never know. As far as I know, no one saw or heard the bittern today. Great Blue Herons, mallards, Canada Geese, Song & Field Sparrows, Com YT was about all I had there.

I then went to Pick Ponds. Nothing unusual. A couple birders had walked to pintail marsh in hopes of seeing a Bell’s Vireo but despite seeing 2 Bell’s the other day, they did not see or hear one today. Given the warm temps, I decided not to check for myself. I did not hear or see any Sandhill Cranes altho the above-mentioned birders did see them and also heard a Chat.
