Responding to Caroline's response...which was not taken as a flame. Thanks.
I hope to clarify that I wasn't suggesting the Connells or any other band
does not write songs without some motivation (obviously, there are many top
40-type band exceptions). I simply sought to say that I have appreciated
music more since I stopped trying to look for meaning behind lyrics that
don't always immediately make clear what the song writer is trying to
convey. I find it a lot more fun to listen to the songs over time, and if
the meaning doesn't make itself clear, than follow my own
interperperatation. It's just my personal taste, and I realize others
have differen't views. I hope no one thinks I was trying to discourage
Caroline's interest in learning more about some of the band's lyrics. In
fact, I would be curious to hear what you learn.
I was fortunate to have been able to spend some time with them at one point,
and get a sense for a few of them as individuals. My purpose in responding
was merely to relate that experience in a way that might help you shed some
light on how the band puts music together. Hope no one took it any other way.
