Art-
Actually, there is very little we can do about the
lack of radio support. I spent quite a few
years in North Carolina (and am heading back there to take
a job at Wake Forest) and the Connells got little radio play
there as well. Most decisions for radio play are made by
national ratings companies, not program directors.
Pathetic as hell, but true.
If you really want to increase the radio play in a specific
market the best thing to do is have a number of people call over a series of a
couple of weeks. Not all at once, and don't flood them with calls or they'll
know what's up and stop paying attention.
Unfortunately, sales and media attention really do guide airplay.
