The Triangle has a lot of great bands. When I was at Duke, I saw a few
at the marvelous old Cat`s Cradle, not to be confused with the marvelous
new Cat`s Cradle. Dillon Fence is a definite keeper, especially their
one album, excuse me if I can`t remember the name, but it was put out by
Mammoth. Another band that was really great (note past tense) was Nikki
Meets the Hibachi out of Chapel Hill, a good folk duo with haunting
lyrics. Another group who I kinda like is Queen Sarah Saturday (hell,
the name alone is cool, reference to Mr. Roger`s Neighborhood) but you
kind of have to be in the mood for some noise. There are others, but at
the moment the names escape me...
The Connells really head up my list for best of the Triangle, though.
BTW, does anybody know where I could get a Nikki Meets the Hibachi album
called _The Bluest Sky_? It was stolen from my car last Christmas
(along with all the rest of my CDs) in Parkersburg, WVa, and it was
really a transcendent album. I`ve searched for it throughout Chapel
Hill without any success. I`d really appreciate it, and would pay top
dollar.
