Hello everyone,
I am Dana McCall (a male!), a Sr. at the UNC School of Dentistry. I
went to undergrad at UNC, and high school at the famous Broughton High
School
(featured in the '74-'75) video. Of course, I am from Raleigh, home of
the Connells, and the 31st largest radio market in the USA. That is
significant because it is by far the largest market lacking a commercial
alternative station. Another tidbit is the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham,
Chapel Hill) is host to NC State, Duke, and UNC. Thus, 11 of the last 15
final fours have had at least one of our teams (3 champions this decade).
This year ought to be one of the most interesting for the depleted UNC
team. It will still be fun, though!
Oh yeah, this IS the Connells list. Here are some tidbits:
Favorite CD: Boylan Heights (by a MILE)
Favorite Song: Speak to Me (Elegance close 2nd)
Favorite Video: '74-'75 Great (not just because of BHS, either!)
First Connells show: UNC student Union Great Hall 1988 - 700 people with
their heads rocked off!
Worst Connells "show": Raleigh Civic Center 1990? (has ANYONE ever
sounded good in that contemporary hell hole?)
Bands you should look out for: Peat Moss, James Hall, Jackopierce, the
Gufs, dEUS.
Bands you MUST SEE: Julianna Hatfield, Drivin' n' Cryin, Red Hot Chili
Peppers, Porno for Pyros, James Hall, Dave Matthews Band, Alice in
Chains, Sarah Mclachlan. (honorable mention - Letters to Cleo, Primus)
DO NOT SEE: Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, Pavement (hon. mention-
Sugar), UNC football.
Best Rollercoaster around here: Grizzly (King's Dominion)
Washington DC's best kept secret: National Building Museum
