Well then. Looks like I can get answers here...
=) (I hope)
I've been calling in thru 529-4999
It's going down tomorrow, right?
Well, I gotta modem problem.
I have been using Hyperterminal to call in (too cheap to buy the $10 software).
BUT... whenever I ask Hyperterminal to call in using my modem, it trys and says
it is disconnected.
So, instead, I type in ATDT5294999 (hayes command) at the terminal prompt and
whala, I can call in.
Been doing this all 1st semester.
*yeah, I know this is a computer/modem problem and not a problem with the PPP
or anything, but...*
I just borrowed the material to call in from a friend. Installed it.
Unfotunately, I get the same results as I do with Hyperterminal, if the PC
itself tries to automatically call in, it says the modem isn't there. But it
is. The driver is installed, it's been detected, it's the correct
configuration (I'd guess). I *am* a hardware person, but I always find modems
to be a pain in the *ss to install. Is there a way to manually call in with
the PPP software, ie: can I (like I do with Hyperterminal) type in atdt5294999
(Or whatever the number is... 5240003?) and it will connect?
Can I get a list of the commands so I can make a script so I can just send it
in?
BTW, I've got to thank Devin for all this... if it weren't for Egyptian Chicken
(Back then known as Satan's Doom or Excalibur or whatever) I wouldn't know half
this crap. Thanks.
=)
