Well folks I have been away for a while because my wife, Ann, had her
gallbladder out. Not to mention the end of the semester stuff. Damn, if I
could not be happier about the way the list has blossomed. I think I speak
for the band and Black Park when I say "thanks!"

I am excited about the cd idea. However, there are some serious issues
that need to be addressed. First, we need copyright permission which must
come from White Rhino Music via TVT Records and Black Park Management.
While, I doubt that there will be problems - if we can't clear copyright,
then we can't do it. So, that has to be cleared before we talk about names
and such (although, I would put my vote for "Brighter Days" - brilliant
suggestion). I will talk with Ed at Black Park tomorrow and see what he
says about the project. Dede would you give me a call or send some e-mail
on this?

Second, is one person in charge of collecting the songs and working on the
engineering, mixing, and so on...? If so, that is the best way to go. I
think John would be a good choice for the job if he would take it. If Dede
gets clearance - all of the people with contributions could send them to
John in a particular format for mixing and inclusion.

Third, we need to try and get bands, performers, artists?, to cover stuff
from the entire range of the 'Nells career. I am currently outside of a
band otherwise I could contribute, I can sing a mean 'much easier.' I
think a good tribute would cover the entire body of work. If someone could
organize this and then send a list to John that would be terrific.
Kimberly might be a good choice for that (just a thought).

Fourth, Of course we will need to send free copies to the band, TVT, and
Black Park - so remember they're all going to hear it so consider that when
you are putting the stuff together. So, price must include a small
copyright fee, packaging, burning, etc...however I know of several fan
groups that have done things like this. It can be done.

Fifth, I think there are many of us who would be willing to put together
some liner notes. I would think that the best solution would be a
democratic one. Lets have a few people write some things - merge them
together, edit them, and distribute them on the list for a vote of
'approve' or 'disapprove.' If not, who among us is the most gifted writer
or closest to the band. I have been working on a band bio for years and
have 50 rough pages that I could condense in some way.

Finally, lets take the major discussion of this off-list. I would be happy
to help facilitate but as I see it there are only two or three people who
are heading this so why don't we all talk...we could always set up a chat
somewhere. If anyone has some thing to say or disagree with here, just
send me an e-mail note.

Well those are my thoughts, anyone have a different Connells question or idea?
