Alright, I give up. Because the geniuses over in the SAS department
can't keep the web server running that lets people access the
handouts server (it's regularly down in the evenings, and always down
over the weekends), I've given in and installed the NW client,
version 5.12 to be exact, so that I may obtain notes and assignments
*before* they're due.

To put it bluntly, this thing is not well-written. At least not for
use under 8.6.1. It almost always crashes when I start browsing the
network, and the crashes are bad enough that I can't even recover
with MacsBug. I'm not used to crashes--I go three to four weeks
between them--so the half dozen I experienced in 30 minutes dealing
with this thing has driven me to the edge. (Incidentally, did Moose
really enter junk as the company name [in the about box], or has the
client trashed memory?)

All I want to use the client for is logging into the SAS network and
accessing the handouts directory. Now, how I do I do this? Exactly
what do I have to enter into the tree and context fields to get there
without browsing around (and crashing)?

TIA.

BTW, once I get around to installing the final build of OS 9 on the
Enterprise here, am I going to experience more problems with this
client?

Regards,
Bob
