Not long ago, I researched "fire blankets" and could find no real reference
to their use.  "PRUDENT PRACTICES" discourages their use.  I spoke to some
physicians in the local burn unit and the consensus was fire blankes are for
fires and not for people.  The retain heat, keep hot fuel vapor in and cause
problems in debriedment of flesh.  It is better to suggest the safety shower
or even a bucket of water to put quench fire n a person. Don't forget the
"Stop Drop and Roll" technique you were taught as a child. The fire blanket
is useful to throw on the fire to smother it .
