Stopped by hoover on the way home today at around 4:00pm. First I hit Oxbow island and saw some good waterfowl; Lesser Scaup - 1 Am. Widgeon - 8 Ruddy Duck - 40 Mallard - 8 Wood Duck - 4 Bonaparte's Gull - 40 or so Ringbilled Gull Herring Gull Horned Grebe = 4 D.c. Cormorants - 50 Tree Swallow - 1 Osprey - 2 Then I went to the board walk and wow, that place is seriously flooded! Nearly all the good shorebird mud has been covered by water agin, I felt like I'd gone back in time to a few months ago. All that rain we had makes a big difference. Searching high and far and wide found only 1 shorebird, a Spotted Sandpiper wich I haven't seen in months either. Spotted Sandpiper - 1 G.W. Teal - 2 Mallard - 5 Canada Geese Same gulls as above GBH - 10 Pied-billed Grebe - seen in the newly flooded mudflat area Belted Kingfisher - 2 N. Flicker - 1 very lovely looking male White - throated Sparrow - 40s C. Chickadee N. Cardinal Carolina Wren Am Robin.
