Monday Oct. 23 the Delaware County Bird Club will meet at Ohio Wesleyan University's science building. Dick Tuttle will present The Beaver Hypothesis. ADVICE FOR OCTOBER: “THINK BEAVER” Our next meeting is Monday, 23 October in room 163 of the Science Center on the Ohio Wesleyan campus. Refreshments will be available after 7:00 p.m. and the meeting will be called to order at 7:30 p.m. Parking is available in the Selby Stadium parking lot across Henry Street from the Science Center or in the lot behind the Science Center. Beware of the construction in the area. Our own Dick Tuttle will hold forth on “The Beaver Hypothesis.” The Beaver Hypothesis looks at 500 years of Ohio history and the major role that beavers played as wildlife managers before Columbus landed in the Americas. Originally presented at the 2001 convention of the North American Bluebird Society, this slide program provokes its audience to "think beaver" when managing species associated with wetlands. Photos of the 2006 American Kestrel and Osprey nesting seasons will be on display for the social part of the meeting.
