Greetings All, Normally, I'm content just reading all the great postings of bird sightings from around Ohio. Today, however, I just had to join in on the posting. November has been a great month for birds so far in my front yard in the little hollow between Nashville and Glenmont, Ohio. Here's the scoop: Nov. 1st YB Sapsucker - very awesome! Nov. 2nd Barred Owl (heard while coming down the hill after checking our sheep) Sharp-shinned Hawk - this beauty was coming in for the kill through the creek bed. I watched as it collided with a songbird (am. goldfinch?) and took off for the brush. Not sure if he caught his supper or not! Nov. 3rd (The icing on the cake!) YB Sapsucker - spotted twice WC Sparrow Pulled out the digital camera to see if I could get some shots through the window of these 2 awesome birds and had some pretty good luck with getting a few shots. The sapsucker reappeared later and I took another set of shots. Much to my surprise when checking the images after downloading them, I had both a FEMALE and a MALE sapsucker!!! The pictures didn't turn out too bad. I did get an excellent shot of the wc sparrow. Am hoping to set up a web site to post the pictures soon. But the excitement isn't over yet., folks. While on the phone, I looked out the window again at the feeding area in my front yard and lo and behold, in my dogwood tree was a BROWN CREEPER! What a wonderful ending to an excellent day of bird watching through glass! Happy Birding!
