It may well have been a very tactful message to a new user of the > listserv advising of the parameters set by the administrator. Indeed, > Mr. Slater's own e-mail says the e-mail he received was "very polite": Hi Chris, and many, many others, direct and via the list: (54 total emails) Yes, I was cautioned regarding my post of a "non-sighting" nature in a most polite manner. I have since learned that the list is for rare bird sightings only and I will abide by that. The message to me was couched in a very tactful manner and simply stated that the list was for sightings only and that my off-topic posts will draw fire if continued. I thought about my departure and feel that I will learn nothing with my head stuffed in the sand. I can add nothing to the list about sightings but I can read, and I can learn. So without rancor or recrimination I ask to rejoin the ranks of Ohio Birds while I sit, read and learn. I have no rare birds here on the farm and would not recognize one if it flew up and pecked me on the cheek, uhhhhh, yeah, the cheek. Oh, I suppose I would recognize a Dodo but we have 3 nesting pairs :-o Cordially, Tom Slater [log in to unmask] Adamsville Ohio USA ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
