For what it's worth, I thought some of you might be interested in how we handle postings here in Michigan. We have one list that is strictly limited to sightings of rarities. We have several others that are more liberal as far as what topics are permitted. That way, people who are interested solely in hearing about rarities can subscribe to just that list; but those who have broader interests can also subscribe to one or more of the other lists. One of our list managers also runs a bird photo website where members can post photographs they took of birds. Personally, I subscribe to and enjoy all the lists. Perhaps some of the Ohio powers-that-be might consider having one list just for rare bird sightings and another list for other bird-related matters.
