Hi. Driving home from work with the kids, we saw a Northern Saw-whet Owl. It
was perched in a bushy old apple near the edge of the road. We live in the
woods just West of Chillicothe and were almost home. Our banding station has
had 7 saw-whets this year so far with our first owl last week. We've been
rained out a bit but they are out there. Get out and look! Also we do hear
various calls that saw-whets make. If you have the Cornell Owl CD, check it
out. We've heard the "Chitter" call and the "ksew" call so far this year.
They may not be too vocal but you never know what you might hear (& see) if
you get out at night.
ENJOY!
