Having failed to find the Ross' goose during its sojourn in Fairport Harbor, I went to the US Grant elementary school late Monday morning. It was recess time and the flock of geese was not present. Looking for suitable habitat for a flock of geese was easy; there is a golf course adjacent to Lost Nation airport. I quickly found the flock which included a Ross' goose. My use of a scope during a snow squall attracted some attention, and I learned from several workers that this "white goose" had been present for at least a week. I successfully relocated the cattle egret and then spent an hour trying to find a little gull at Eastlake but was unsuccessful. There were very many red breasted mergansers and Bonaparte gulls but nothing else notable. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
