Yesterday after work I was headed south on State Route 21 in southern Summit and northern Stark Counties when I drove under two separate lines of Common Grackles. I couldn't see either the beginnings or the ends of the flocks that were flying from southwest to northeast. There were likely a few tens of thousands of birds. In Montrose, at State Route 18 and I-77 (Summit Co.), 30 or more American Robins are regulars in the (probably) crabapple trees along Embassy Parkway. I moved earlier this month and, since the birds at my new place are a little slow on the uptake, my yard list isn't growing as quickly as I'd like. If anyone has any pesky Carolina Wrens, Red-breasted Nuthatches and the like that are eating you out of house and home, please send them my way!
