On January 1, we drove the roads in a block in northern Wayne County
(basically most of Canaan Township) for the Winter Bird Atlas project
and found 14 Kestrels in the block that day.  Quite a nice showing of
this small hawk. We did another census on January 6 and counted only 4,
although we didn't spend as much time on the census in the afternoon on
that day.
