I birded from Fairport Harbor to Cleveland this morning and early afternoon. Although waterbirds are a bit scarce due to the mild weather, some decent birds were seen. At Fairport Harbor there was a single LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL at the "mew gull" marina. I didn't see much else. I didn't go to Headlands so I don't know if there are any purple sandpipers around. At Eastlake Power Plant there was a first winter GLAUCOUS GULL and 3 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS (2 adults and 1- 1st winter), and a PEREGRINE FALCON. At Sim's Park I saw the birds mentioned by Nancy Anderson. It was nice to see all three scoters. At East 72nd street there were lots of Bonaparte's gulls, but nothing was found with them. I did see a single adult THAYER'S GULL. I stopped here as it started to get windy and was raining fairly hard.
