Hmmm...Bill's recent post about the Olentangy Black-crowned Night-Herons is interesting. I had a count of 11 birds on February 16th while surveying the area for the GBBC. At that time, there was only one small area of open water in the near vicinity. There were some spots of open water, the occasional ring-billed gull, and a hunting great blue heron, however. Both these roosts persisted longer than this last year, Paula's until 13 April (and 14 April the year before). Chances are the birds have relocated, but will they return to these spots as more water opens up?
