Over the past week of so, we've caught glimpses of a large hawk passing through our backyard and perching for very short periods of time. At approximately 1:00 pm today, the hawk provided a good five minutes of viewing by perching in an tree in an adjacent yard. This was a very large bird. We have a resident Coopers Hawk in the neighborhood and this was a much huskier and larger bird, probably approaching 2 ft. The breast was streaked but largely cream or buff colored. A prominent white supercilium was part of large thick head. I did snap a couple of digital photo's which if are clear, some times take pretty shaky photo's, I would be happy to post. I am open to suggestions on where to post them as I don't think its good practice to use up bandwidth on the listserv. Date: 2/4/07 1:00 pm Location: Fairview Park, Ohio (Delorme Map 40, A-4) Obs.
