Two weeks ago I reported White-winged and Surf Scoters present on the Ohio
River at the Pike Island Lock and Dam in the northeast corner of Belmont
County. Upon my return home for spring break I found that both birds are
still present at that location. Also present were Canvasback, Ruddy Ducks,
Wood Ducks, and a scaup (not sure which species).

A few miles north in southeast Jefferson County there were Red-breasted
Mergansers, Horned Grebe, Pied-billed Grebe, Bufflehead, Canada Geese, and
Mallards. No Osprey yet.
