This afternoon, most of the waterfowl at Medusa Marsh (Erie County) were near the south side of the main impoundment and difficult to see with the glare and heat shimmer. An exception was a small group of Redheaded Ducks and one Eared Grebe swimming with them. The ducks swam off when I stopped my car, but the grebe stayed close enough to shore that I was able to watch it feed for a while. Also present were American Coot, scaup sp., Mallard, Bufflehead, Mallard, Gadwall, Bufflehead, Common Merganser, Green-winged Teal, and Northern Shoveler. For the last month, I have been keeping an eye on a new Redtail nest in a small woodlot across the street from my house. Yesterday, one of the birds spent some time standing in the nest. Today she began incubating. Sheryl Young Sandusky

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone.
