Today, Ann Cramer, my dad and I birded at Dillon Lake. We started out with a grand view of 4 eagles, 3 immature and 1 adult at the dam. > We stopped at Dillon Lake Dam and the beach then headed north to Dillon > Sportmans Area and Nashport. There is massive flooding at the north end of > the reservoir and up along the Dillon Sportsman area. There were literally > hundreds of ducks in these flooded areas including Hooded Mergansers and > two > immature Bald Eagles (probably the same two that we saw further south at > the > Dam earlier in the day). We could not identify many of the ducks because > they were too far away. What we did confirm is as follows: > Common Loon-1- go to the boat ramp road > Juvenile Bald Eagles-3- at the dam and then again up north > Adult Bald Eagle-1 > Turkey Vultures-10 > Wild Turkeys-30- at the entrance > Pigeons-6 > Great Blue-4- north near the flooded area around Nashport > Red-Tailed Hawk-5 > Crows-15 > Robins-30+ > Mockingbird-1 > Red Breasted Mergansers-10+- dam and beach > Ruddy Duck-4- beach > Gulls-Glaucous(1)- below the dam with many Ring Billed > Ring Billed Gulls-numerous > Pied Billed Grebe-1- dam > Horned Grebe-2-dam > Kestrel-1-dam > Song Sparrow-1 > Cardinal-4 > Hooded Mergansers-3- north in backwater near Nashport > Mallards-numerous > Red-Bellied Woodpecker-1 > Canada Geese-numerous > Red-Winged Blackbird-numerous > Canvas Back Duck-4- north in flooded area near Nashport > American Coot-8-beach > Eastern Phoebe-1 > Killdeer-1 > > ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
