There was a female Red-breasted Merganser Swimming in the pond when I arrived at 11am. It was still there at 2pm when I left. At the bridge I saw the Hermit Thrush, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, and four Fox Sparrows. I had to sit quietly for 20 minutes before the Fox Sparrows became obvious, and another 10 minutes before they started moving around and feeding nearer to me. They sure do blend in with the leaf litter! There were lots of Downy Woodpeckers and more than 10 Northern Flickers as well, plus all the regulars. The Belted Kingfisher was gone (or didn't show itself), as well the Eastern Towhees. I saw only 2 White-throated Sparrows and less than 10 Juncos (a real decline from last week). Two Cooper's Hawks and one Red-tailed flew overhead. There were 4 Brown Creepers and a few Golden-crowned Kinglets at various areas. ____________________________________________________________________________________ It's here! Your new message!
