I have been on the road the past couple of days, and a thousand miles, roundabout Ohio. Reporting in this evening from Tiffin. Began this day at 4:00 am in Ironton, Lawrence Co. to end at sunset at Big Island W.A., Marion Co. Never had time to take in Big Island proper as the wetlands along Rt. 95 immediately east of Big Island took up my last hour of daylight. This is what I scoped out (and a scope is definitely in order) in that time. Canada Goose - 9 Gadwall - 4 Wood Duck - 1 American Black Duck - 6 Mallard - 265 American Wigeon - 19 Blue-winged Teal - 23 Northern Shoveler - 6 American Pintail - 147 Green-winged Teal - 48 Lesser Scaup - 14 Ring-necked Duck - 4 Great Blue Heron - 6 Pied-billed Grebe - 1 Bald Eagle - 1 Northern Harrier - 2 Killdeer - 14 Greater Yellowlegs - 7 Lesser Yellowlegs - 27 Pectoral Sandpiper - 390 Bonaparte's Gull - 75 Tree Swallow - 9 Lapland Longspur - 170+ (movement overhead) more on Atlas scouting in Lawrence Co. later cheers Vic Fazio Tiffin, OH ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
