I left for work early today to enjoy the nice weather and squeeze in some downtown birding. Unfortunately, there was not much to report. While on the bus I spotted: 2 Turkey Vultures (circling over the Cargill salt mine docks) On Public Square I did not see the resident Peregrine Falcons, but I know (from the webcam) that one of them is hunkered way down on three eggs, and can't be seen in the nest box from ground level. I thought I might see some action when the two TVs (I assume they were one and the same with the ones I saw to the West) caught up and started riding thermals over the Square. I figured the protective PF parents might see their large visitors off, but no such luck. In Old Erie Street Cemetery: 2 Northern Flickers (my first this year, I haven't made it out much) Now I know where the peregrines get them! 5 more TVs, flying to the north. Otherwise it was the usual urban birdies. I did not get to check the trees around the National City Bank tower, which often serve as migrant traps downtown.
