In addition to Ruth Richard's sightings at Delaware Wildlife Area today, I saw the following: ~150 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, mostly in the marsh area at Panhandle and Leonardsburg Roads. They were predominantly in transit, stopping periodically, squeaking a bit, and then heading east. -several AMERICAN PIPITS, again mostly flying over. -1 American White Pelican -1 SORA that I flushed as I was walking -shorebirds: 4 Greater Yellowlegs, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Wilson's Snipe, 5 Killdeer, 2 Pectoral Sandpipers (flyovers) ~1200 BONAPARTE'S GULLS in a low field just north of Kelly McMaster Rd. east of Horseshoe Rd. They were in all plumages. Despite my efforts, I failed to find anything mixed in besides a handful of ring-bills. I agree thoroughly with Jack Stenger's assessment that this area can be really good this spring for shorebirds et al. I plan on checking it with some frequency, and I recommend others to do the same.
