Visited Sheldon's, Medusa, Pickerel Creek, Bacon Woods, and Sandy Ridge. Found the selection you'd expect in late March - of course, it's April 14...first mid-April trip in memory with no warblers.

  Highlights:

At Sheldon's - a wood duck in a natural nest hole with two ducklings visible, eastern screech-owl, brown thrasher, hermit thrush, brown creeper, fox sparrows.

Medusa - about 150 great egrets and only about 5 great blue herons, nice selection of ducks (including all three mergansers), Caspian tern.

Pickerel Creek - hooded and common mergansers, 4 bald eagles, 1 greater yellowlegs (almost no shorebird habitat).

Bacon Woods - sharp-shinned hawk, 3 winter wrens, a singing field sparrow.

Sandy Ridge - again a nice selection of ducks (many ruddies), 6 greater yellowlegs, tree swallows, 1 barn swallow, brown creeper.

The dam will burst soon, I hope.
