This morning Linda and I took a walk at Sharon Woods Metro Park in northern Franklin County. The male Ruddy Dick is still content to paddle around in Schrock Lake. This morning he swan to within 20 feet of us as he dove to feed. Activity on the trials was mixed with several very active areas and long stretches sans birds. We walked the Spring Creek Trail and checked out both Schrock Lake and the Apple Ridge Picnic Area. Species of interest observed included: Ruddy Duck (1) Red-shouldered Hawk (1) Eastern Phoebe (4) Warbling Vireo (4) Philadelphia Vireo (2) Swainson's Thrush (1) Wood Thrush (2) Gray Catbird (7) Brown Thrasher (5) Nashville Warbler (6) Yellow Warbler (3) Yellow-rumped Warbler (31) Palm Warbler (27) Scarlet Tanager (5) Eastern Towhee (6) White-throated Sparrow (9) Rose-breasted Grosbeak (1) Baltimore Oriole (11) Plus all the other common species Charlie Bombaci ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
