Birders, I had a productive two trips to the CVNP today, one between 8 am and 11:30 am, and one between 4pm and 7:30 pm. The morning trip was along the tracks to the south of Station Road, the evening was along the towpath trail to the south. Morning: Great Blue Heron Turkey Vulture Canada Goose Wood Duck Mallard Red-tailed Hawk Rock dove Mourning dove Chimney Swift Ruby-throated Hummingbird Belted Kingfisher Red-headed woodpecker Downy Woodpecker Flicker Red-bellied woodpecker Pileated (H) Great Crested Flycatcher Yellow-throated Vireo (4!) Red-eyed vireo Warbling Vireo Blue Jay American Crow Tree Swallow barn Swallow Northern Rough-winged Swallow Black Capped Chickadee Tufted Titmouse White-breasted Nuthatch Carolina Wren House Wren Blue-grey gnatcatcher Eastern Bluebird Robin Gray Catbird Yellow Warbler Chestnut-sided warbler Magnolia Warbler Cerulean Warbler Black-and-white warbler Prothonotary warbler (3 males on territory, 1 female) Common Yellowthroat Scarlet tanager (H) Eastern Towhee (H) Song Sparrow Northern Cardinal Indigo Bunting Red-winged Blackbird Common Grackle Northern Oriole House Finch American Goldfinch The evening walk added Yellow-throated warbler (3 heard, one seen) Wood thrush Hooded warbler (2 heard, Carriage loop trail) Rose-breasted grosbeak my yard added (Brecksville) Swainson's thrush (2, been here a week!) Red-shouldered Hawk Yellow-rumped Warbler (still!) Chipping sparrow Surprising to be missing completely: no Vermivora representatives, no shorebirds despite many small mudflats, very very few sparrow species. good luck!
