I checked out a pond that's part of a housing development near my place this evening and counted: Canadian geese:28 ( including the new generation of geese) Song Sparrow:1 (in a tree across the road from the pond that's part of a watershed) Semipalmated Plover:1 Mallard: 1 Yesterday afternoon at Highbanks Metro Park in Lewis Center,I thought I caught a glimpse of a Yellow-headed Blackbird at one of their feeders just as a Red-bellied Woodpecker arrived and established momentary control over the feeder. Just moments later, I was treated to a quick hit by Ruby-throated Hummingbird at one of their hummingbird "feeders" as well as an appearance at the peanut feeder by the resident male Pileated Woodpecker. The Eastern Bluebird houses in the Big Meadows area of the park weren't showing any activity.... Elsewhere, I heard of several folks spotting a Cerulean Warbler as well as a number of Connecticut Warblers this weekend in another state to the west of Ohio.... ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
