I made my annual visit to Magee Marsh today and was
very lucky to be there on just the right day. At 10AM
standing just inside the west entrance to the
boardwalk, I easily found 10 warbler species within
the first 15 minutes! Within 3 hours, I had 75
species total including 20 warblers. Highlights were
close naked-eye views of blackpoll, canada, and
prothonotary warblers, several cuckoos (yellow and
black billed), woodcock nest, screech owl, and large
numbers of the more common warblers spread all over
the boardwalk. This was easily the best visit I've
had here in many years!
