Thought maybe the winds after the rains would keep the birds low, but I saw very few. However, on the path from the visitor's center to Thoreau Lake, just after the first bench, on the north side of the path, I heard an unusual (to me) song. I tried for about 20 min. to get a look at the singer to no avail. After I returned to my car and checked my birdsong tapes, I'm pretty sure it might have been a Kirtland's song. Nothing else on the tape was close to what I heard. With that possibility, I returned to the spot and stayed a while, but the bird never sang again. If anyone happens to be at Blendon, keep an ear/eye out for this bird. I did see a Great Blue Heron and Green Heron at the pond, and a Canada Warbler skulking low not far from the feeder at the south blind. ____________________________________________________________________________________Boardwalk for $500?
