Sorry for the late report, but I did some atlasing in and around Lake La Su An Wildlife Area in Williams County on Thursday, June 28. The two somewhat interesting birds were a brown creeper and a northern parula. The brown creeper was singing persistently and did not seem to be returning to any particular tree, so I am figuring it may be an unmated male. I had confirmed breeding of a pair nearby in 1998 and 1999 but had not seen any individuals ouside of migration since then. The northern parula was singing as well. I could not find any evidence of a mate. That is another species that I believe nested in Williams County in the late 90s, but has seemed to disappear during the past several years. The other warber that has seemed to left the area is the yellow-throated warbler. There was a small colony in the late 90s and early this decade, but has not been visible for at least two years now.
