I took an hour after work to visit these wetlands and the adjoining greenbelt along Blacklick Creek in southeast Columbus. The 'wetlands' are really 2 large flood-control pools managed by the City of Columbus. The water levels in these impoundments were somewhat high, with only a fringe of mud in each, but they still held some decent waders including
Great Blue Heron - 1
Great Egret - 1
KIldeer - 32
Gr.Yellowlegs - 1
L.Yellowlegs - 1
Solitary Spr - 1
Semipalmated Spr - 1

Unfortunately, the impending storms tonight will probably flood the remaining shorebird habitat here, so it probably won't be worth much of a look over the next few days. The riparian forest along Blacklick Creek here still had quite a few calling birds for so late in the season and the day. Best were a Rose-br. Grosbeak, E.Kingbird, a gnatcatcher pair feeding a fledgeling, and 3-4 singing Towhees.
