Greetings, On Sunday afternoon, July 8, I met Pat McCarthy(Darke County Birders)in West Manchester, Preble County to look for the Eurasian Collared-Doves. Shortly after I arrived we saw a dove fly into a tree at a home behind the post office. It was not a mourning dove. It perched on a branch, where, through Pat's spotting scope we could see all the field marks of an Eurasian Collared-Dove. Later, two flew overhead and into a tree at a home across the street from the front of the post office. After Pat left I saw another one on a utility wire behind the post office. Before leaving I saw a mourning dove fly in and perch on a utility wire. What a difference between the two species! West Manchester is located on Route 127 just over 4 miles north of I-70. The post office is on the south side of Scott Street between High and Main Streets. Sincerely, Jim Fry Hocking County ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
