Yesterday morning Rick Asamoto and I decided to look for the Lark Sparrows in Oakes Quarry Park near Fairborn. We did see three but saw or heard little else except for two Spotted Sandpipers. I more or less assumed they were local residents but after reading other reports I wonder if they may be early migrants. There is unusual habitat in that new park and during the summer other interesting species have been observed including a Blue Grosbeak and a Prairie Warbler. Part of the park has shallow pools and unless they dry up they may well attract shorebirds.
