I drove out to Pickeral Creek WA hoping for some good shorebirds. Bad idea. The promising looking area of 3 weeks ago is now under water. There was no shorebird activity, or habitat. There were some good birds though including 8 Bald eagles and a dozen Caspian Terns. After all that excitement, I drove back to Sandy Ridge in Lorain County. Much better Great Egrets 18 Gr Blue Herons many Green Herons 13 Bald Eagles 3 Wood Ducks many Blue-winged Teal 12 Killdeer Black-bellied Plover 3 Pectoral Sandpiper 20 Spotted Sandpiper 3 Solitary Sandpiper 3 Least Sandpiper 20-30 Semi-palmated SP 10 Greater Yellowlegs Lesser Yellowlegs Short-billed Dowitchers 4 Also, N. It was nice to do some birding back in Ohio, despite the rain, after enduring a week of birding on the New Brunswick & Maine coast ;>) See you on the trails, Chris Pierce N.
