It was a fantastic day for birding but not for photography. Large groups of peeps were flying in and out before they could be scanned. So, I'm sure we missed a number of good birds. The Red Knots were particularly interesting to me in that one was a juvenile in nonbreeding plumage while the other was an adult in breeding plumage which was pretty much intact. Here are the results: Red Knot - 2 Buff-breasted Sandpiper - 1 Baird's Sandpiper - 1 Western Sandpiper - 1 perhaps 2 or 3 more Least Sandpipers - 100+ Semipalm Sandpiper - 100+ Pectoral Sandpiper - 12 Stilt Sandpiper - 3 Ruddy Turnstone - 3 Short-billed Dowitcher - 3 Black-bellied Plover - 1 Am Golden Plover - 7 Semipalm Plover - 10 Gr Yellowlegs - 2 Lesser Yellowlegs - 15 Sanderling - 12 Wilson's Snipe - 1 Bl-crowned Night Heron - 1 on beach Green Heron - 1 Common Tern - 45 in one group Forster's Tern - 6 Bald Eagle - 4 Regards, Walt and Dana Shaffer ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
