I spent a few morning hours hiking through this Franklin County MetroPark and along the nearby Alum Creek bikepath. I focused on the area around Schrock Lake in Sharon Woods, and between Cherrington and Alum Creek Parks along the bikepath. Migrant fallout was modest and mostly early in the morning; later, birds seemed to melt into the foliage. Migrant highlights included: Flycatchers: 3-4 E.Phoebes, 3 Pewees, 1 Acadian, 1 GreatCrested Swallows, Swifts - 1 Barn, 1 Tree, 10-12 Chimney Swifts Red-br.Nuthatch - yet another 1(at SharonWoods) Vireos - 5+ Warbling, 3-4 Red-eyed Thrushes - 12+ Swainson's, 1 Veery Mimids - 20+ Catbirds, 1 Brown Thrasher (SW), 1 Mockingbird (ACB) Warblers - 12 species: Tenn (4), Nashville, CapeMay, Bl.-thr.Green, Magnolia(5), Chesnut-sided, Blackpoll, Bay-br., Redstart(7+), Ovenbird, Wilson's, Common Yellowthroat Grosbeask-Buntings - a few Indigo Buntings along the bikepath ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
